Author, teacher, and historian Vincenza Scarpaci will present a slide presentation to illustrate her book The Journey of the Italians in America. She uses photographs and stories gathered from families and communities to place the experience of Italians in the broader context of the immigrant experience. Millions of Italians have immigrated to the United States, bringing with them a distinct set of beliefs, traditions, and customs, which have been preserved and passed down through generations. Dr. Scarpaci celebrates the ways in which this ethnic group has influenced many aspects of American life, including arts, agriculture, industry, religion, cuisine, sports, and politics.Wednesday, January 13th @ 7 p.m.
