TUESDAY TIPS

TODAY'S TIP - Using LINK+ to request books that are unavailable at SFPL

Has this ever happened to you ... the book you want to check out is Library Use Only? Or the book you want isn’t in the San Francisco Public Library catalog? What if SFPL has copies of the book but they are all checked out? Or the book is damaged or missing?

LINK+ allows you to request books that are not available at the San Francisco Public Library for any of the above reasons.

When you search for books, you will see a tab at the top of the results list which says “Search LINK +.” When you click on this tab, your search will be redone in the catalogs of our cooperating libraries, and the new search results will tell you if the book you can't get at SFPL is available in any other library systems. Then just click the button “Request this item” and fill out a brief form with your name, library card number and pin number, and which branch you would like the book sent to. LINK+ books are usually delivered to the branch within 4 days.
